Paris is Always a Good Idea

Bonjour! The past five days I was in Paris with my Fashion Business program. The moment we got to Paris we hit the ground running and went to the Jean Paul Gaultier exhibit. The exhibit was amazing! There were tons of Gaultier’s designs all displayed in a creative way. I didn’t know much information about Gaultier before the exhibit, expect for his runways shows being over the top. I really enjoyed the exhibit and so glad we got to see it.

The next day I got very lucky and was chosen from a hat by our teacher to attend a Paris Haute Couture Fashion Show. I was so excited because I’ve always wanted to attend Paris Haute Couture Week. I saw an unknown designer named, Coppelia Pique. The show was at a gothic esc. church. The clothing was very avant-garde and beautifully made. My eyes were glued to the shows. I got lucky and was asked to sit down because they needed to fill the seats.  This was one of my favorite parts of the trip! My dream is to one day attend a well known designer at Paris Fashion Week, such as Chanel.

While in Paris, my friends and I ate a lot! French food is one of my favorite cuisines! One night I got snails. I had them twice while on the trip and they were delicious. One of my favorite foods while in Paris was the bread! The bread was amazing as well as the pastries. My friend Madison is interning in Paris and took us to a traditional Parisian brunch restaurant called, Angelina. Bread and pastries with jam is just absolutely delicious!  I also ate a lot of cheese. Our teachers one day gave us fifteen-twenty cheeses to try. I was in heaven. I tried many macaroons while in Paris and decided that Pierre Hardy was my favorite macaroon store.

While on the trip, I also went to the Eiffel Tower, Monet museum, The Louvre, Seine River Monmatre, and Versailles. It was a jam-packed five days. We didn’t stop except to sleep. Paris is one of my favorite cities. I went before with my family four years ago so it was fun to go now because I’m older and was with my friends. I'm going to miss Paris but excited for all the other places I'm going to this summer. Next stop is Prague!

  1. You have had the most eventful five days! I've been here for three weeks and I am already so jealous of how much you have done. I'm glad you've been really adventurous here (i.e. trying snails). I actually love snails. I haven't gone to the Jean Paul Gaultier exhibit. I definitely need to put that on my to-do list before I come to London.
