Wandering in Croatia

The past few days, I've had the pleasure of exploring Croatia. I have been looking forward to this part of my TopDeck trip because of the beautiful scenery and the culture of Dubrovnik.

Dubrovnik is such a magical place! I have never been to a city quite like it. The streets of the Old Town are made of marble and everything is so clean and shiny. The main strip connects to tiny side streets that were cramped, but filled with winding stairs, flowers, and clothes on laundry lines. We had such a great time walking around and since the city is on the water, we got to jump off some rocks into the ocean. The local artisans were great too so we ended up doing lots of shopping as well.

Dubrovnik is also where the producers of Game of Thrones film most of the scenes for the show. Since the show is one of the absolute favorites, I decided to do a Game of Thrones walking tour. We got to sight see while looking at the places they filmed some of the Kings Landing shots. It was such a cool experience and a very fun day.

Next, we headed off to Plitvice Lakes. These lakes are national heritage lakes of Croatia and are absolutely breathtaking. We spent about 4 hours wandering through the scenery and enjoying the waterfalls and views. It was incredibly relaxing and an experience I will cherish forever.

I cannot wait to visit Croatia again later in my life. I would love to spend more time exploring other parts of the country as well as visiting Dubrovnik and the lakes again. My next stops are Budapest and Vienna; the adventure continues.
