Lovely Days in London

After Munich, Liz and I made our way to London for a few days. Although I was initially a little nervous about coordinating travel, since we would be landing in London at 11 PM, we were very lucky that everything went smoothly and the transportation in London is extremely straightforward and easy to navigate.

I’ve wanted to visit London for several years now, so I was very excited to have the chance to spend a few days really exploring. Our first day was packed with a lot of the major sites: Tower Bridge, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, and the London Eye. While I was a little underwhelmed by Buckingham Palace, it was fun to see and we enjoyed our day full of the tourist spots.

The next day we went to Kings Cross, nice and early. Being Harry Potter fans, this was a must see. Then we headed to what turned out to be my favorite part of London, Camden Market. We did a little shopping and a little eating and enjoyed our time in this beautiful city with beautiful weather. Following that, off to Convent Garden we went. We were on the hunt for an ice cream place that had been recommended to us but after several blocks of searching, we found out that they had closed. This led to us finding a great little place for dinner and drinks, so it worked out!

Thursday, our final full day in London (and in Europe), we went to Kensington Palace just to find it under construction. So, we made our way to Portobello Road for a little shopping and lunch. After lunch, we visited Tate Modern and checked out all of the free exhibits. I really enjoyed this and it was a great way to spend the afternoon once it started to rain. Later that night, after dinner in a small pub, we went to SushiSamba, a sushi bar and restaurant. A London local had tipped us off about this spot the night before, saying it was one of the best views of the city, so we had to see for ourselves. It was definitely worth it. My blurry pictures don’t do the view justice.

All in all, the trip was a success! I really liked London and hope I can return to spend a little more time there. My only complaint was that it was pretty pricey, especially compared to what we had grown used to in Prague.

  1. Yay! London seemed awesome! I wish I had gotten the chance to travel afterward, but I am content with what I had gotten out of our trip. We were definitely lucky to have such cheap prices in Prague. Even at home I am having issues with meals over $7. You guys really were lucky to have found such a beautiful view in London too! Glad you had a good time. :]
