Czeching Off My List!

Ahoj!

I just enjoyed my last full week here in Praha! (Incase, I did not already inform you, Praha is Czech for Prague.) This trip is flying by and soon I will be returning to good ole Pennsylvania!

I made a list called "Places to Go" that I have been trying to complete the last few weeks. So far, I am doing really well! I made sure to make my list realistic with a few places such as the Jewish Museum, Petrin Hill, Prague Castle, and a few others. I only have four places left to go, but I decided that two are less important than the rest based on my actual interest level and time circumstances. It is exciting to realize that I have spent almost each day exploring this city and czeching sites off my list! (Ohh the puns!)

Capturing our work... the little blue paint, not the large.
Not this week, but last week, I went and tagged the Lennon Wall. This is a wall that is used as a memorial of John Lennon, the former Beatle, after his death. That was fun because I bought a tiny acrylic paint tube and wrote directly on the wall. Unfortunately for another tourist, as soon as I had finished and stepped back she walked up and hugged the wall... not knowing that I had just painted a wall that was meant to be painted and tagged. Needless to say, she walked away with a blue stain on her shirt.

The Observation Tower on Petřin Hill.
This past week, I visited Petřin Hill. Sam and I took a funicular, basically a tram that goes up to higher elevations, up to the top. We got off and ventured toward the Observation Tower. It is basically a miniature Eiffel Tower and was built in 1891! We decided to go ahead and climb the 299 steps... I was surprised to discover how difficult it was. But the view was well worth it! Luckily, I really do not have any fear of heights, so it was easy for me to appreciate its beauty, although I was elevated over a thousand feet above the city of Prague. Climbing down the stairs proved to be the most difficult!
View from the observation deck in the Tower.

These are just a few things that I did this week, along with the Jewish Museum, which was a series of synagogues and an Old Jewish Cemetery filled with really old creepy tombstones. Fun (depressing) fact: the Nazis started this museum based on the fact that they thought they should educate the world on a race that would no longer exist. Now it exists more as a memorial.

Well, I hope everyone else is enjoying their summer! This heat here in Praha is starting to get to me. It definitely makes me homesick for the beach or my lake house.

My last few Prague posts will be coming soon!

    1. Yeah, it is really unbelievable how fast this is going by! If you have not visited the Jewish quarter, you definitely should! I feel like I have basically covered most of the places I wanted to so far. Good luck!

  3. I too made a list of things to do and I look at it almost everyday telling myself that I'm going to get to them eventually but you seemed to make a nice dent in your list and it's inspiring me to do the same! I hope you're enjoying your last days in Prague!! I cannot even believe it's already time for you to leave!
