Passport to Paris

            This past week has been very eventful as we went with the London College of Fashion to Paris for five days. I had been to Paris when I was young but it was so different to be back without my parents planning everything. We managed to fit so much into the five days and ate a TON of food. There is no way I can share everything we did in the five days so here are some of my favorite moments!

            The first day Olivia, Ashley and I went to the Jean Paul Gaultier exhibit at the Grand Palais, which was beautiful. All the clothing was so extravagant and changed so much by each collection. No two seasons looked remotely the same. I loved learning about Gaultier because I didn’t know much about him as a designer before the exhibit. Seeing the beautiful collections was defiantly a highlight of our time there.

            The next highlight was probably on Friday when we walked through the Tulieries Gardens to the Musee de l’Orangerie and saw Monet’s Water Lilies. Both the walk to the museum as well as the Water Lilies was so beautiful. The two sets of paintings might have been my favorite we saw the whole trip. From the museum we walked to the Pierre Herme Macaroon store, as they are one of the most well known macaroon stores in Paris. After visiting I defiantly know why! They were the best macaroons we had the whole trip… and we had a lot! We then continued walking through one of the biggest shopping districts in Paris and saw all the major French stores including the original Chanel store as well as a very well known vintage store called Didier Ludot. They had the most amazing selection of vintage we had ever seen and if not for the prices I would have bought it all.

Tulieries Gardens 

            Saturday brunch had to be my favorite meal that we had while in Paris. I am a vegetarian and given that a lot of French food is heavy on the meat it was very difficult to find dishes sometimes. However on Saturday Ashley, Olivia and I met our friend Madison at Angelina for brunch. Madison is interning in Paris for the summer and said it was one of the best places so of course we had to try it. The inside of the restaurant was beautiful with the most ornate detailing I had seen. On top of that they had an amazing selection of breakfast pastries as well as fresh juice and eggs. One of their specialties is their hot chocolate and after drinking it I could tell why. It was so rich it literally tasted like drinking melted chocolate. The whole meal was so indulgent but never the less a great start to the day and kept us full for another long day of sightseeing.

On our last day we went to Versailles, which was about a 30-minute train ride out of the city. The palace was SO extravagant and huge, with the most ornate detailing you will ever see. Not to be out done, the gardens are twice and big and even more memorizing when they turn the fountains on. The only downside to the day was that it was over cast and eventually started to sprinkle, however we didn’t let it ruin our day.

We had to go back to London on Sunday night so after a quick snack in the city it was time to catch the train. Unfortunately the train was delayed and we didn’t get into London until almost 1am however even that couldn’t dampen the amazing trip.
