I love that you were able to tell that most of the stereotypes are true. I know from my own experience that they're true, but to hear it from someone who witnessed it in Italy itself, makes it even more funny and awesome. I've always been jealous of the way Italians lived especially after learning so much in my Italian course I took in high school. My teacher pointed out the same things that you did. The Italian lifestyle as a whole is something I hope to experience one day. I especially love that you mentioned that you never see Italians dressed in baggy, unfashionable clothes. I wish more people had that attitude since I love fashion so much, and seeing it in the streets is where I get a lot of inspiration. It is so funny to see how cultures differ in different countries. For starters, Italians do indeed consume pizza and pasta all the time! But since the food is so fresh, and the portions are significantly smaller than what is served in America, Italians don't have a problem with weight in regards to eating carbs all the time. Also walking is a huge part of the Italian lifestyle, which is also why Europeans are so skinny. It is also interesting to read about how Italians don't go out of the house in sweatpants, which is a major fashion no, unlike many Americans who go out with sweatpants and Uggs on. Lastly, the culture is completely different in the sense that many students in Italy live with their parents until they are done with college. My cousin who lives in Rome with her family is older than me and is in University, yet is still living with her parents! It's funny that coming from an Italian family I can confirm all Italian stereotypes you wrote about and you can learn about these things just by living like a local in Florence! As I read, I became increasingly more excited for my own study abroad adventures and after hearing a little about your experience, Italy seems like an amazing place to travel to. Study abroad is an amazing way to enrich yourself academically but also as a young adult experiencing a new culture and environment. I think it’s great that you’re learning things about Italy’s culture and are able to discuss it respectively while also making the readers very interested in your travels. -Shannon FriersonShannon Maryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07623910185554269813noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-360030471444207459.post-37899777149601143682015-11-08T15:52:48.762-08:002015-11-08T15:52:48.762-08:00I loved this! Usually writing about stereotypes is made with the purpose of disproving them; However, you have done the opposite, and in a very non-offensive way. Everything you wrote made me like the idea of going to Italy even more than I already did! It was interesting to read about Italian culture from a non-Italian living in Italy, because it means you have fresh eyes on the subject. If I ever visit Italy it'll be interesting to see if my experience matches yours. I'm especially excited to see the fashion!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05124065172409527522noreply@blogger.com
